“The National Army of Tajikistan has, during the years of independence, become a powerful force ensuring reliable protection of the state’s borders and the security of its citizens.”
Emomali Rahmon
Every country has its own national army. The National Army of Tajikistan was established at a time when the political, economic and social situation in the country was unstable and the number of professional military personnel was limited. Nevertheless, the newly independent state began building its own Armed Forces.
The National Army is a symbol of the stability of the state and the nation. It serves as a key pillar of peace and security and acts as a reliable shield in protecting the country’s borders. Throughout history, armies have played a decisive role in defending territories and protecting states from external and internal threats.
At the time of its establishment, Tajikistan lacked the necessary material and technical base. The formation of the National Army began literally from scratch. On December 18, 1992, the Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, signed the Resolution “On the Establishment of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Tajikistan.” The army was formed on the basis of the Popular Front of Tajikistan and forces supporting the constitutional government.
Today, the Government of the country continuously works to strengthen national defense capacity, improve military readiness, enhance material and technical conditions and improve the social welfare of servicemen.
In 1999, the first military exercises of the Armed Forces units were held in a military garrison. Since then, joint anti-terrorism exercises, large-scale operational-tactical trainings, mobilization drills and territorial defense exercises have been regularly conducted with the participation of regional and local authorities, citizens and other security agencies. These efforts aim to coordinate joint actions with military structures of regional and global partners in combating terrorism and extremism.
The National Army is rightly considered one of the fundamental pillars of statehood and a guarantee of national security and stability. Officers and soldiers are devoted defenders of state independence and a reliable shield of our beloved Motherland.
Undoubtedly, service in the Armed Forces is the greatest school of courage, honor, dignity, strong will and loyalty to the Motherland and to one’s Mother. As the great poet Mirzo Tursunzoda wrote in his poem “Son of the Motherland”:
Honor is inviolable;
He who possesses honor is noble.
Whoever holds honor sacred
Will not bow to injustice.
The National Army of Tajikistan, as a reliable pillar of statehood and a symbol of independence, holds a special place in the country’s modern history. Every year on February 23, the people of Tajikistan celebrate this day with respect and pride, as the Armed Forces ensure national security and stability.
Taking this opportunity, I sincerely congratulate all servicemen on the 33rd anniversary of the establishment of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Tajikistan and wish them clear skies, success in their service and faithful dedication to our beloved nation and Motherland.
