My mother, my dear mother,
Before your feet I bow my head, my protector.
In your eyes I am still a child,
And you lovingly place your hand upon my head.
Every year on March 8, the Republic of Tajikistan celebrates Mother’s Day. This date is one of the important days in the calendar and is dedicated to honoring and appreciating women and mothers. A mother is the dearest and most sacred person for every individual. It is the mother who gives life, raises a child, and guides them on the right path in life.
The history of March 8, International Women’s Day, dates back to the early 20th century when it was established to defend women’s rights and promote equality. Over time, this date became a national holiday in many countries. In the Republic of Tajikistan, after gaining independence, this day has been officially celebrated as Mother’s Day.
The purpose of celebrating this day is to elevate the status of women in society and to appreciate the contributions of mothers. A mother is the source of love, purity, and devotion. The role of a mother in human life is extremely important. Raising children, shaping their personalities, preserving national values and culture, maintaining a healthy family environment, and participating in the social and economic life of society — without mothers, neither families nor society can progress.
Women and mothers actively participate not only in family life but also in various sectors of the state, including education, healthcare, culture, and the economy. In recent years, the status of women in Tajik society has significantly increased. The state takes important measures to protect the rights and interests of women. Today women hold leadership positions and make valuable contributions to science, politics, and entrepreneurship.
